This book, Introduction to Groundwater and Aquifers-All Things Groundwater Explained in Plain Language, is aimed at a diverse readership that has not been trained in groundwater mathematics and/or prefers to learn through visual rather than mathematical forms, but nevertheless seeks to understand the most important concepts in groundwater science without compromise in correctness. This introductory book addresses the most common questions about groundwater; it connects the dots between water physics, hydraulics, the role of groundwater in the water cycle, water wells and aquifer tests, with attention to how geology plays a role, and explains groundwater quality, protection and sustainability. It describes aquifers but also draws attention to the importance of aquitards because aquitards commonly govern the flow and water quality in the aquifers.

This book has more than two hundred original figures including photographs, most of which express ideas in the form of digital schematics that in essence are sketches. The unique style of many of the schematics adopted for this book is the combination of a schematic with a photograph to provide a realistic reflection of what is presented in the schematics. Ample stand-alone photographs are included in the book to support the explanation in a paragraph in addition to facilitating the general readability of the book (i.e., avoiding pages with solely text as much as possible). Furthermore, the book includes exercise to self-test the understanding of some of the concepts explained in this book.
