Who We Are
The Groundwater Project (GW-Project), is a non-profit organization registered in Canada and administered at the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The GW-Project website is: https://gw-project.org.
What Personal Data are Collected, and Why
When the user registers to create an account at the GW-Project website, the following data is stored: name, country, email address, and password. The password is encrypted and cannot be seen by website administrators. This data is collected to enable the user to login in the future and for the GW-Project to better understand website usage. This understanding helps us to improve the website.
If the user visits the login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if the user’s browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the user closes their browser.
When a user logs in, several cookies are also created to save the user’s login information and options for screen displays. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If the user selects “Remember Me”, the login cookie will last two weeks. If the user logs out of the account, the login cookies will be removed.
Download of books
When the user downloads a book, the title of the book and the date of download are stored. These data help us in planning future book projects.
Embedded content from other websites
Web pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way it would if the visitor had visited the other website.
With Whom GW-Project Shares User Data
We do not share user data with anyone.
How Long User Data is Retained
When registering on the GW-Project website, personal information that the user provides remains in the website’s database indefinitely, or until the user deletes their account. Website administrators can also see and edit user information until the account is deleted.
Rights the User has over Entered Data
The user of the account can request to receive an exported file of the personal data retained by the GW-Project. The user can also erase all personal data by deleting their account. To delete the account, login to the website. Click the “User” menu and select “Account.” Then click “Delete Account”. Enter the password, and click the “Delete Account” button.
